Infectious illnesses
If your child contracts an infectious illness, they must be excluded from school.
Childhood immunisations
Children should be fully immunised before starting school. On enrolling your child, you must present your child’s immunisation records. If your child is not immunised they will be asked to stay home if another child has contracted a disease. Length will vary on the infectious disease.
No hat, no play policy
In the interests of your child’s health and well-being, our school has a “no hat, no play in the sun” policy which operates for the entire school year.
Sun Safe policy
Health and guidance services
A community nurse and a school psychologist make regular visits to the school.
Under normal circumstances your child will receive three health checks during primary schooling unless some specific complaint is detected which requires continual follow-up. In all cases, parents are advised of any problems.
You are welcome to make appointments with either the community nurse school or school psychologist to discuss any concerns.
Dental therapy centre
A free dental service for students in Pre Primary to Year 6 operates from Honeywood Primary School to provide continuous dental care for your child and to teach proper care of teeth and gums. The centre is supervised by the health department’s dental health service and is staffed by qualified dental therapists. Any treatment required (fillings or extractions) is carried out at the centre, and you will be notified when appointments for your child are made.
Administering Medication
At Hammond Park Primary School we require consent to administer medication to students. There are two different forms to be completed (depending on the medication).
- Request to Administer Medication if the medication is for short term use (up to 2 weeks)
- Request to Administer Medication and Student Health Care Summary (more than 2 weeks)
- Record of Administration of Medication (Form 12) is required for both types of medication
To access the forms and further information go to the Parent Information / Forms page.
HPPS Runners’ Club
Our school is keen to promote and provide opportunities for our students to have an active and healthy lifestyle. We would like to invite students from Kindy to Year 6 to join The Hammond Park Primary School Runners’ Club. Please note, if Kindy or Pre-Primary aged children are attending, parents/caregivers are required to stay and supervise them.

Please return the to join in the club. Permission forms are available from the School Office.
During Runners’ Club students run laps of the oval which will be recorded.
If your child suffers from asthma please make sure they have their medication with them.
Please be aware that if it is raining at the commence time the session will not go ahead.
