If your child contracts an infectious illness, they must be excluded from school.
Children should be fully immunised before starting school. On enrolling your child, you must present your child’s immunisation records. If your child is not immunised they will be asked to stay home if another child has contracted a disease. Length will vary on the infectious disease.
No hat, no play policy
In the interests of your child’s health and well-being, our school has a “no hat, no play in the sun” policy which operates for the entire school year.
Health and guidance services
A community nurse and a school psychologist make regular visits to the school.
Under normal circumstances your child will receive three health checks during primary schooling unless some specific complaint is detected which requires continual follow-up. In all cases, parents are advised of any problems.
You are welcome to make appointments with either the community nurse school or school psychologist to discuss any concerns.
Dental therapy centre
A free dental service for students in Pre Primary to Year 6 operates from Success Primary School to provide continuous dental care for your child and to teach proper care of teeth and gums. The centre is supervised by the health department’s dental health service and is staffed by qualified dental therapists. Any treatment required (fillings or extractions) is carried out at the centre, and you will be notified when appointments for your child are made.
Hours are Tuesday – Thursday from 8.00am to 4.00pm T: 9499 1938
HPPS Runners Club
Our school is keen to promote and provide opportunities for our students to have an active and healthy lifestyle. We would like to invite students from Kindy to Year 6 to join The Hammond Park Primary School Runner’s Club. It is also an ideal opportunity for those students wishing to do well in their own year level (Years 3 – 7) cross country run and ultimately the interschool cross country held later this term. Please note, if Kindy or Pre-Primary aged children are attending, parents/caregivers are required to stay and supervise them.
During Runner’s Club, children run laps of the oval. As they complete a lap they will be given a card and at the end of the session the number of laps will be recorded and an on-going tally kept. At assemblies students will receive certificates for milestone targets – 10km, 20km and so on.
Runner’s Club will be held on the school oval on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8.00 – 8.25am. Students may attend either or both days. Parents are most welcome to run or walk as well.
Runner’s Club will commence on Friday 8 May. Please return the permission form to join in the club. Forms are also available from the School Office.
Please be aware that if it is raining at the commence time the session will not go ahead.
